Artist's
Biography
SHOWING an early flair for art, Lyndsay
Russell left Bournemouth for London to study at Watford College of Art &
Design in the '80's.
After graduating with an Honours Diploma, she worked mainly in advertising,
until diversifying into photography and journalism in 1993.
Before long, her photos were appearing in the national press and she began
working as a regular freelance for magazines and broadsheet newspapers such as
The Ritz and The Independent.
Many years later, on marrying and having a daughter, Lyndsay swapped the metropolis for the peace
and quiet of Kingston, near Richmond Park. A new era allowed her to explore her passion and start
producing art again.
"It's
amazing how it all started. I was frustrated because I just couldn't find
the right painting to go in my newly renovated kitchen... so I picked up my
brushes again, and created a couple of my own, exploring my original style
further".
"Visitors
to the house who had no idea I painted asked where they could get similar
pieces.. and so I began taking commissions."
Since
then, things have just snowballed by word of
mouth.
Lyndsay
has an unusual skill in adapting the shade palette and features of a room into
her private commissions, painting custom originals that echo their surroundings
in a unique, surrealistic style. Whether fine art or for commercial
interior design, her signature style is renowned for being surreal, flowing,
and swirling. With a fresh, whimsical approach to her work, she creates
contemporary pieces that are both engaging and distinctive.
